Website Design for a Digital Innovation Studio
The challenge
Lumen Labs needed a website that could communicate the breadth of its digital innovation work without feeling like a conventional consultancy website.
Working across strategy, experimentation and product design, the studio needed an experience that felt intelligent, progressive and human. The challenge was to bring these different capabilities together within a clear story while giving the brand enough personality to reflect their innovative spirit.
Discovery
Our discovery process explored how Lumen Labs could express its role as a place where ideas are tested, shaped and prepared for launch.
Through collaborative workshops, visual research and concept development, experimentation emerged as the central creative theme. This gave the website a strong narrative foundation and helped us build a visual language around curiosity, movement and discovery.
We played with the concepts of ‘launch’, ‘experimentation’, and ‘tinkering’. This inspired the space theme- symbolizing a place where groundbreaking ideas take flight.
Design
In the Design phase, we focused on creating a visually striking and cohesive aesthetic that aligned to Lumen Lab’s brand identity. We played with the concepts of ‘launch’, ‘experimentation’, and ‘tinkering’. This inspired the space theme- symbolizing a place where groundbreaking ideas take flight.
To evoke a sense of nostalgia and emotional connection, we employed a black and white color palette, reminiscent of technical blueprints. This established a strong foundation for the website's aesthetic. We infuse elements of dynamism and engagement by incorporating custom-illustrated designs brought to life through animation, creating a visually compelling and interactive user experience.
Custom Illustrations
We created custom illustrations and animated elements to increase interactivity and dynamism across the website. These illustrations convey a strong sense of creativity and innovation, aligning with the company’s ethos.
Build
Our core focus, during the development phase, was on functionality and user experience. To ensure exceptional user experience, the website was meticulously designed to be fully responsive, adapting seamlessly across all devices. Custom illustrations and animations were integrated harmoniously to create a visually engaging and interactive interface. Rigorous testing was conducted to guarantee flawless performance and a polished user journey prior to launch.
